Community Council
The Wallingford Community Council (WCC) works with city government on land use, transportation, and parks. We are the place to come if you would like to see the city do things differently, or if you have ideas for developing our neighborhood.
We meet from 7 to 9 pm the first Wednesday of every month, in room 202 of the Good Shepherd Center. Everyone from the neighborhood is encouraged to attend. Agenda and notes are posted to wallyhood.org each month before the meeting.
If you would like to present information to the council please contact wccprez@wallingford.org. For organizational mechanics please consult the WCC Bylaws. We hope to see you soon!
One of the land use issues that the Wallingford Community Council is currently working on is the redesign of the North Transfer Station. Several members of the board have spent COUNTLESS hours working on this issue, working with Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) to work out an agreement that serves that needs of the City while providing the neighborhood amenities that keep Wallingford a great place to live. Read more on the agreement here:
- NTS SPU North Transfer Open Space Proposal(docx format)
- NTS SPU North Transfer Open Space Proposal (pdf format).
After more review and hours of discussion, here are the current (1/25/12) documents about the transfer station:
- WCC-SPU contract
- WCC-SPU Text Amendment
- NTS WCC MOU ver 8 Option C attachment
- NTS WCC MOU ver 8 survey attachment
Once again many thanks to those on the council who spent HUNDREDS of hours on this issue, and have negotiated agreements with SPU that will have a positive impact on the neighborhood!
